Military Care

The Military Care Committee, as part of the Rotary Club of San Jose Foundation, purchases and organizes donated materials and personalized cards for hundreds of care packages which are sent to active U.S. military service members.

The Committee has also provided financial support and/or in-kind items to the following:

* Volunteer-run Operation: Care and Comfort which sends tons of care packages to “adopted” U.S. military units.

* The USO which maintains hundreds of locations throughout the world providing a respite for American troops and their families.

* The Fisher House and Defenders Lodge which accommodate families of recuperating veterans.

* The Naval-Marine Corps Relief Society which provides assistance to US service members and their families.

* Support for the Salute the Military Day and Tribute to the Fallen Memorial at the SJ Giants baseball park.

The Committee has hosted fundraisers to help finance its efforts in cooperation with the Silicon Valley Capital Club in downtown San Jose as well as Bay Club Courtside in Los Gatos.

Local schools which have provided support through their students, teachers, parents and staff include Washington Elementary School in San Jose, Twin Lakes Christian Elementary School in Aptos and Monterey College Preparatory in Scotts Valley.
