The Event for November 20th: Bob Kieve's Thanksgiving Program

Bob Kieve’s Rotary Thanksgiving program has been a part of Rotary’s tradition since 1997. It was created because Terry Graff, who was president of the club in 1997, wanted to depart from the then traditional sermons which highlighted earlier Rotary Thanksgivings. The result was a program that featured ten Rotarians, who candidly told fellow members what caused them to be thankful. Among the participants in that first program were Dan Orloff, Chuck Reed, Leigh Weimers and Fernando Zazueta. This year’s program will include another group of approximately a dozen Rotarians.
Lunch Order for November 20th Meeting

The buffet lunch menu includes: Starters: Pear and Strawberry Salad (VGT) Entrees: Salmon A La Bella, Shrimp and Sausage Gumbo, or Vegetable Risotto (VGT) Sides: Sauteed Seasonal Vegetables (VGT), Garlic Mashed Potatoes (VGT) GF - Gluten Free, VGT - Vegetarian, VGN - Vegan Please order by Monday, November 18th at 12noon. Plan ahead and order early! Late orders will be charged an extra $5. Important note: If you have a 10-pack, you still need to register, so we have enough food. Click here to place your lunch order.

This is a ticketed and catered event.
The menu will be a soft taco bar with sides of Mexican rice, refried beans (vegetarian), and Latin Salad, dessert, two drinks (beer, wine, or soda/water), and a ticket to the game. The bar is a cash bar after the two drinks.

Game Tickets: Game Tickets are available with Tailgate ticket purchase and can be picked up between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. All tickets are in the general admission sections.

The Meeting Summary for November 13, 2024
Following the wonderful slide show representing the past week of our Rotary Club’s activity, President Heather welcomed Club members and guests to the 5,460th meeting of the San Jose Rotary Club, and thanked Jeff Pohle (“Piano Man”) and the Greeting Line participants from our Club’s “Service to Seniors” committee, chaired by Kelly Dippel.
Bert George delivered a heartfelt eulogy for recently deceased club member Gary Silver, noting so many of Doctor Gary’s numerous contributions to our club and to the Gift of Life program he founded. Bert shared stories of Doctor Gary’s generosity, compassion and commitment to saving the lives of others globally who otherwise had no access to life-saving healthcare. Rest in Peace, Doctor Gary.
President Heather used her President’s Time to give out “Fun Fines.” Club members spotted in photos not wearing their Rotary pin (Steve Ellenberg & Sarju Naran in Mexico, Rod Diridon & Gloria Duffy on the cover of Los Gatos Living magazine), and “piano man” Jeff Pohle for pandering to our guest speaker with Sharks memorabilia.
Next week is the return of the club’s annual favorite, Bob Kieve’s Thanksgiving Program now produced by Bob’s daughter and our own club member, Lenoir Kieve.
President Heather concluded the meeting at 1:15.
