“Service Above Self”

Rotary is a service organization of business and community leaders united worldwide.  Rotarians are making a positive impact in our local and global communities.

The Rotary Club of San Jose

Benefiting the community and our world through action, integrity, service, and fellowship.

The Rotary Club of San Jose is the largest, most active and well-known service organization in the community. We are a leadership organization working together to make a difference. Our members include local business, nonprofit, professional and civic leaders. We form lasting friendships through our shared Rotary experiences including weekly meetings with interesting speakers, committee meetings and projects, social events and group service projects within our community and internationally.

Diversity & Inclusion

Having a diverse and inclusive Rotary Club means we value and welcome individuals of all ages, cultures, ethnicities, and races to our Club. We invite younger people, women, and minorities who support Rotary’s values, ideals, and mission to join our members in service to our community, and we strive to give all members equal opportunities to serve as leaders within our Club.

The Speaker for January 8th: Eddie Garcia

The Power of Hope

Heart disease is the #1 cause of death in the United States. After a massive heart attack in 2010, Eddie used the power of hope to overcome a decade of living with heart failure. Hope as an action word can help us conquer heart disease.

Eddie Garcia is a speaker, author, retired telecommunications executive, past school board president, and heart transplant warrior. Eddie is a native of San Jose’s working-class east side who rose through the ranks of local government and at Comcast where he was eventually appointed Vice President of Local Government Affairs. In 2010 he suffered a massive heart attack which launched him on a fight for his life over the next ten years living with heart failure. A successful heart transplant in 2020 inspired Eddie to publish his memoir, Summer in the Waiting Room: Faith • Hope • Love. In 2011, Eddie was inducted into the East Side Union High School District Hall of Fame. He is also the recipient of the Californians for Justice “Justice Award” and the NAACP “Freedom Fighter Award.”
